MPA Chairman to act on Daniel Morgan murder

Metropolitan Police Authority chairman Len Duvall is to propose to that the Authority require Met Commissioner Sir Ian Blair to produce a report on the murder of private investigator Daniel Morgan in 1987. The move will be proposed at the monthly meeting of the MPA on Thursday 27th October.
Four police inquiries, the latest ending in 2003, have failed to resolve allegations of Met police involvement in the murder. The family say all of the available evidence points to police involvement in the murder and cover up and that serious irregularities took place in several of the police inquiries

At a meeting of the Metropolitan Police Authority today the Commissioner of Police, Sir Ian Blair, admitted to the authority that “It is clear that the first MPS inquiry was compromised.”
The discussion was opened by Jennette Arnold, Alastair Morgan’s representative on the MPA who forcefully advocated the need for independent scrutiny of the case. MPA chair Len Duvall added that there are “still unanswered questions.”
